Virginia Beach Hockey Club

 

      The Virginia Beach Hockey Club was founded in mid 2012. The VBHC started several program with an express purpose of gathering a group of mentors and athletes committed to promoting camaraderie, competition, and athleticism to those with and without disabilities.  The goal of the club is to develop a team atmosphere and a positive environment for mentors and athletes who want to learn to play hockey.  There are no skill or physical limitations required, just a strong work ethic, dedication, and a positive attitude.  The Virginia Beach Hockey Club is a group of local adult hockey players who meet in the mornings for pickup games and practice. Our goal is to promote the sport, exercise and have fun.  Whether you're an experienced player or a beginner, our morning hockey skate is an enjoyable time for everyone.

We meet Monday and Friday mornings from 6:30-7:30 AM at Iceland of Virginia Beach. 

Goalies Play for Free! If you are a goalie and want to participate in our morning pick up games, click the Goalie Signup button (found on their website) to secure your spot.  Signing up is FREE!  Only two goalie spots are available for each event.

FAQs

How do I join the club? ​​ Sign up at any Friday or Monday Session. Cost is $50 to register and then $70 a month in dues. Paid members skate Monday and Friday sessions at no additional cost.  Dues do not include any other VBHC hosted events.

Can I play without becoming a member?  Yes, drop in for any game or learn to play for $15 per session.​
 
Do you always have Goalies?  Yes.  Goalies play at no cost for our morning sessions, but we only allow two goalies per session.  Click the "Goalie Signup" button above to request a spot.
 
Where can I get my skates sharpened?  VBHC offers free skate sharpenings to members who are current on their dues. The Iceland staff or VBHC can also sharpen skates for non-members for a fee.  See the Iceland front desk or click here for more information about services.



The VBHC also sponsors the VBHC Challenge Team.  This is a group of mentors and athletes commited to promoting comraderie, competition, and athleticism to those with disabilities. Our goal is to develop a team atmosphere and a positive environment for mentors and athletes who want to learn to play hockey.   There are no physical limitations to join the team but require a strong work ethic, dedication, and a postive attitude.

How do I become a member of the Sled Team?  Anyone is welcome to join.  Click the Contact Us (found in the link below) to find out more. 

Who is allowed to join the practices?  The Sled Team is composed of athletes with all abilities.  Everyone is welcome.

What do I bring to practices?  Mostly a desire to learn the game of hockey.  We have helmets and sticks and loaner sleds available.  Click the Contact Us button below for more information.  For more about sled equipement see the Parents and Players page on VBHC's website (link below). 
 
How is the Sled Team funded?  The VBHC Destroyers Sled Team part of the VBHC Challenge Team Public Charity.  Our players are supported in part by your generous donations.  Help support the mission by donating today.
